Hand screen printed illustration inspired by the novel The Palm-Wine Drinkard (1952) by Amos Tutuola. This now classic novel is based on Yoruba folktales, showcasing the great narrative talent of the Nigerian writer.
The tale is filled with phantasmagorical descriptions of the main character's adventures in quest for his dead palm-wine tapster.
This inspired me to try a very abstract interpretation of a particular scene that describes a handsome man, getting rid of his body parts as approaching his home where skulls live. The woman who was following him is taken hostage, and ends up being supervised by the skulls that make sure she will not attempt an escape.
