The sketchbook is very important in Karin's day-to-day illustration practice, and tends to contain her observational drawings from wherever she happens to be based in at the time. It is thus an ever-changing reflection of her surroundings, approached with her typical touch of mischievousness and love for humanity.

She usually takes drawing notes on location; when that is not possible, she takes photos for future references or makes mental notes on the mood that she wanted to capture.
